BPJPH: Halal Certification Strengthens Competitiveness of National Textile Industry
The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has affirmed that halal certification is a key factor in boosting the competitiveness of Indonesia’s textile industry on the global stage.
This was stated by BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan at the Textile Industry Seminar titled “Halal Strategy in Global Textile Industry: Building Competitive Advantage Through Halal”, held as part of the INDO INTERTEX exhibition at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Thursday (16/4/2026).
Haikal explained that halal has evolved into a global industry component, not merely related to religious aspects but also to product quality and trust.
“Halal has become a global industry. The textile industry must have halal certification because its products come into direct contact with our bodies,” he said in a written statement received by Kompas.com.
According to him, halal certification for textile products not only ensures sharia compliance but also increases added value and the competitiveness of Indonesian products in international markets.
On the same occasion, Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Experts Association (Ikatsi) Shobirin F Hamid supported the implementation of halal certification for the textile industry and consumer goods circulating in Indonesia.
“We support making halal certification mandatory for the textile industry or consumer goods circulating in Indonesia. This is important for enhancing business competitiveness,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesia Halal Lifestyle Center Sapta Nirwandar emphasised that the halal concept should be viewed as part of a modern lifestyle reflecting values of beauty, health, quality, creativity, and innovation.
“Halal must become a lifestyle, as it encompasses aspects of beauty, health, quality, creativity, and innovation,” Sapta clarified.
Through this event, BPJPH hopes that more national textile industry players will adopt halal certification as part of their business strategy.
Thus, awareness of halal products can strengthen Indonesia’s position as a major player in the global halal industry.
