BPJPH: Halal Certification for SPPG Guarantees Quality of Free Nutritious Meal Program
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) maintains that the halal certification held by Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) guarantees the quality and halal value of the food and beverages provided to the programme’s beneficiaries.
“The presence of halal certificates provides assurance that the food and beverages served to the beneficiaries of the MBG programme have met the established halal standards,” stated Mamat Salamet Burhanudin, Deputy for Registration and Halal Certification at BPJPH, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He noted that halal certification is a vital aspect of the MBG programme’s implementation, as it provides certainty regarding the halal status of the food and drinks consumed by the public. Consequently, BPJPH is continuously conducting education, socialisation, and assistance to ensure all SPPGs can meet their halal certification obligations in accordance with statutory regulations.
“As mandated by Law Number 33 of 2014, all products, including food and beverages circulating in Indonesia, are required to be halal-certified,” said Mamat.
“Through these activities, BPJPH aims to ensure that MBG organisers understand the importance of halal certification as well as the processes required to obtain it,” he added.
Through socialisation efforts with SPPGs, BPJPH hopes that more kitchens will recognise the importance of halal certification and promptly apply for it. This step is expected to strengthen the quality of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme while ensuring the public receives nutritious, safe, and halal-guaranteed food.
According to Mamat, halal certification is not merely a form of regulatory compliance but also serves as an instrument for protection and the provision of legal certainty for the community. Furthermore, BPJPH is encouraging all MBG organisers to focus not only on obtaining certificates but also on maintaining the consistent application of the Halal Product Process (PPH) throughout the entire food supply chain, from raw material procurement and storage to processing and serving.
“We hope that all SPPGs will promptly apply for halal certification and consistently maintain the implementation of halal product processes. In doing so, the halal guarantee for the products served to beneficiaries can be continuously preserved,” concluded Mamat.
