The Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (BPJPH) has emphasised that the logistics sector must fully implement halal certification by 2026. This statement was made by BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan during the Halal Bihalal event of the Indonesian Association of Express Delivery, Postal, and Logistics Companies (Asperindo) in Jakarta on Thursday (9/4/2026). In his address, the man familiarly known as Babe Haikal explained that the concept of halal is not limited to food and beverage products but encompasses the entire process chain, including distribution and logistics. “Halal in the logistics field is an important part of halal product assurance. This is not just about the final product, but also how the storage, packaging, and distribution processes are carried out in accordance with halal principles,” he stated in a press release received by Kompas.com on Tuesday (14/4/2026). “Halal is not merely an obligation but also an instrument to protect our SMEs from the influx of imported products,” he added. Furthermore, Babe Haikal emphasised that the logistics sector no longer has room to delay the implementation of halal certification. In line with national policy, the halal certification obligation will apply comprehensively by 2026. “For the logistics industry, there is no more bargaining. 2026 is the mandatory point for business actors to obtain halal certification,” he asserted. He highlighted that the separation between halal and non-halal products must be carried out strictly to maintain the integrity of product halal status. “Products such as halal and non-halal meat must be separated in their storage. This is a standard that must be met by all logistics business actors,” explained Babe Haikal. BPJPH hopes that synergy between the government and logistics industry players will grow stronger in building an integrated and globally competitive national halal ecosystem.
