Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (BPJPH), Ahmad Haikal Hasan, views Eid al-Fitr as a momentum to strengthen Indonesia’s halal product assurance.

Haikal, in his statement in Jakarta on Sunday, said this aligns with the increased consumption by the public of various needs, from food and beverages to fashion and cosmetic products.

“By choosing halal products, we also contribute to strengthening the halal product assurance system while boosting the competitiveness of Indonesian halal products on a global level,” said Haikal.

In that situation, he continued, the public is urged to be discerning in selecting products to be consumed or used.

He also emphasised that the rising shopping activity ahead of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations must be balanced with awareness to always ensure the halal status of products.

“Eid al-Fitr is a moment when public consumption increases, from food, drinks, clothing, to cosmetics. Therefore, it is important for us to remain discerning in choosing the products we consume,” said Haikal.

According to him, choosing halal products is not only related to religious values in meeting daily needs but also provides assurance on aspects of safety, cleanliness, and product quality, thus bringing peace of mind, comfort, and tranquillity to consumers in using or consuming them.

“Ensure that the products we choose are halal certified. That way, we can be more at ease when consuming them, as they have gone through a process in accordance with halal provisions,” he stated.

In addition to providing tranquillity for consumers, choosing halal products also has broader impacts, namely to increase the competitiveness of national products.

BPJPH also invites the entire community to make the Eid al-Fitr momentum a collective step in supporting national economic growth through the consumption of halal products.

“Let us support halal products as part of efforts to strengthen our national halal products so that they become more competitive and capable of performing on the international stage,” said Haikal.

“Through collective public awareness in choosing halal products, it is hoped that the national halal product ecosystem will become stronger and provide broad benefits, both for consumers and business actors in Indonesia,” he added.
