Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) has recorded the distribution of 1.35 million free halal certificates to micro and small enterprise (MSE) operators through the SEHATI programme during the first two months of 2026.

BPJPH Principal Secretary Muhammad Aqil Irham said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday that the free halal certification facility represents a tangible commitment by the government to broaden access to halal services for MSE operators across the regions.

“In 2026, we have issued 9,511 halal certificates worth Rp2.19 billion. This is a demonstration of the government’s commitment to ensuring MSE operators have easy access to halal certification,” said Aqil Irham.

Aqil Irham further noted that the SEHATI programme is not solely aimed at protecting the halal status of products, but also serves as a strategic instrument for enhancing the competitiveness and marketability of MSE products in both domestic and global markets.

“With halal certification, our MSEs become more compliant with halal standards. This is one of the keys for Indonesia to realise its ambition of becoming a global halal hub,” he said.

In its implementation, the SEHATI programme is guided by BPJPH Head Decree Number 79 of 2025 on Technical Guidelines for Free Halal Certification.

Aqil Irham said the policy is designed to expand the reach of MSE products to broader markets with credible and trusted halal assurance.

The SEHATI programme, he continued, represents a synergy between central and regional government in improving public welfare and strengthening the economic self-reliance of MSE operators amid the dynamics and competition of the global market.

BPJPH is also continuing to expand collaborative partnerships to ensure halal certification facilitation is further strengthened by all relevant stakeholders, including regional governments across Indonesia.

He cited the Riau Islands Province as an example, where 9,511 halal certificates have been facilitated free of charge for MSE operators, with total certification financing valued at Rp2.19 billion.

Beyond the Riau Islands, halal certification facilitation has also been provided by provincial governments elsewhere, with varying numbers adjusted to the needs of local MSEs.

“It is hoped that this ease of halal certification for MSEs will expand national halal certification coverage as part of efforts to build a strong, inclusive, and sustainable halal ecosystem in Indonesia,” said Aqil Irham.
