BPJPH Discusses Halal Product Cooperation with Bangladesh
In the meeting, the Ambassador of Bangladesh, H.E. Tarikul Islam, expressed his commitment to supporting the establishment of a halal institution as a form of readiness and responsibility towards the implementation of the mandatory halal certification policy in Indonesia, which will take effect in October 2026.
This step is considered important to facilitate the recognition process for halal-certified products from Bangladesh entering the Indonesian market, and vice versa, to encourage the expansion of the Indonesian halal product market into Bangladesh.
The Head of BPJPH, Ahmad Haikal Hasan, described the strengthening of this cooperation as part of enhancing the global halal ecosystem based on standards, trust, and inter-country collaboration. According to him, the establishment of a halal institution is one of the important instruments in ensuring the smooth flow of international halal product trade while providing protection and certainty for Muslim consumers in Indonesia.
“The implementation of mandatory halal certification in October 2026 is not merely a regulatory directive, but also a momentum for strengthening global halal governance. Therefore, collaboration with various friendly countries is a strategic step to present a credible, accountable, and interconnected halal product assurance system, while bringing benefits to all parties,” stated Ahmad Haikal in a press release on Sunday (10/5/2026).
This was conveyed by Ahmad Haikal during the meeting that took place on Friday (10/5).
The meeting also forms part of BPJPH’s efforts to expand its international cooperation network in the halal sector. Moving forward, BPJPH continues to promote synergies with various friendly countries to strengthen the global halal ecosystem while supporting Indonesia as one of the global halal centres.
