BPJPH Chief Receives Honorary Professorship from South Korea's Silla University
The head of the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), Ahmad Haikal Hasan, has been awarded an honorary professorship (Emeritus Professor) by Silla University in Busan, South Korea, in recognition of his tangible contributions to developing the national and global halal ecosystem and advancing education.
The award was conferred as an appreciation of Hasan’s dedication and efforts in strengthening the halal ecosystem through various international initiatives and collaborations. He was also recognised for promoting educational development that fosters superior human resources in the halal sector.
This honour from Silla University serves as evidence that Indonesia’s halal ecosystem development is gaining increasing international recognition. BPJPH’s active role in building cross-border cooperation, broadening understanding of halal product assurance, and encouraging the harmonisation of global halal standards is deemed to have made a significant contribution to the development of the global halal industry.
“Halal is for all. Halal is rahmatan lil alamin. Halal is a blessing for all mankind,” Haikal said in a written statement on Tuesday (16/6/2026).
In the same series of events, Silla University also established cooperation with BIC Halal Korea to strengthen international-standard halal education and certification. The collaboration is expected to expand opportunities for research, knowledge exchange, and improving human resource competencies in the halal sector.
The conferment of the professorship symbolises Indonesia’s increasingly strong position on the global halal industry map. This recognition from an international academic institution demonstrates that Indonesia’s contributions are not solely focused on regulatory and certification aspects, but also encompass educational development and human capacity building.
“Modern halal standards rest on three main pillars: Traceability, Transparency, and Trustability. These three principles ensure that a product’s halal integrity is fully guaranteed from upstream to downstream,” he concluded.
