BPJPH Awards Halal Certificate to Tirta Pakuan Bogor; Clean Water Supply is Fundamental Need
The Halal Product Guarantee Organising Body (BPJPH) has presented a halal certificate to the Regional Public Enterprise (Perumda) Tirta Pakuan of Bogor City.
The certification ensures that the water treatment and clean water supply processes managed by the regional enterprise meet halal standards in the administration of product halal assurance (JPH).
The certificate was presented symbolically by BPJPH Secretary-General Muhammad Aqil Irham to the Chief Executive Director of Perumda Tirta Pakuan Rino Indira Gusniawan.
The event took place at the Cipinang Gading Drinking Water Supply System, Mulyaharja Village, South Bogor District, Bogor, on Monday, 9 March 2026. Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim was also present at the ceremony.
In his remarks, Aqil Irham emphasised that water plays a fundamental role in people’s lives, both for daily consumption needs and other purposes, including the ritual purification process (thaharah) in Islam.
Aqil added that the availability of water sources meeting halal standards also benefits business operators, particularly in the culinary sector currently pursuing halal certification.
“Many cafés and restaurants are currently working to obtain halal certificates. The availability of water with guaranteed quality and halal status will help them meet requirements in the certification process,” he explained.
Bogor Mayor Dedie A Rachim welcomed the achievement. According to him, halal certification of the drinking water supply system is an important step to strengthen public confidence in clean water services in Bogor City.
“With this halal certificate, the community has the assurance that the water treatment process they use has gone through clear and accountable standards,” said Dedie.
Therefore, all materials and processing stages must be ensured to conform to halal standards.
“In water treatment, various components are used, from pipe networks to machine lubricants. We ensure all of these meet the required standards to provide certainty for the community,” said Rino.
Currently, Perumda Tirta Pakuan serves approximately 200,000 customers from around 300,000 families in Bogor City.
With the acquisition of the halal certificate, the clean water service provided not only meets quality standards but also supports the strengthening of the local halal product ecosystem.
