BPJPH Accelerates Readiness of Modern Retail Business Actors Ahead of Mandatory Halal 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Halal Product Assurance Organising Agency (BPJPH) is encouraging the readiness of modern retail business actors ahead of the implementation of the Mandatory Halal policy in October 2026.

Head of BPJPH Ahmad Haikal Hasan, in his statement in Jakarta on Friday, emphasised that this aligns with the obligation of halal certification as mandated by regulations that must be fulfilled by all business actors.

“BPJPH ensures that its implementation runs consistently so that every product circulating provides legal certainty as well as a halal guarantee for consumer society,” he said.

This policy, he continued, not only focuses on legal compliance but also aims to encourage the creation of a transparent, accountable, and competitive business ecosystem.

Furthermore, Haikal also emphasised that the organisation of halal product assurance (JPH) is based on the principle of protecting society through product information clarity.

Halal-certified products are required to include halal label information, while non-halal products must provide clear non-halal statements.

This information clarity, he continued, becomes an important foundation for consumers in making choices according to their needs and beliefs.

From the business actors’ side, Haikal said that halal certification also provides strategic added value, including increasing consumer trust, expanding market access, and strengthening product competitiveness in both national and global markets.

“Halal certification is not just a regulatory obligation, but also a strategic investment for business actors. With a halal certificate, products have added value in the form of consumer trust, market access expansion, and stronger competitiveness at both national and global levels,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Deputy for JPH Development and Supervision E.A Chuzaemi Abidin said that they are also ensuring that the implementation of halal product assurance runs in accordance with provisions through direct supervision in the field.

“BPJPH not only ensures compliance with administrative aspects but also provides education to business actors regarding halal certification obligations, application mechanisms, and steps that need to be prepared in facing the Mandatory Halal in October 2026,” he said.
