BPJN Sumbar ensures Twin Bridges are fully functional during Idul Fitri
Currently, only one of the twin bridges is in operation, but work on the right-bank side has been completed, so from H-10 to H+10 both bridges will be usable. Elsa Putra Friandi, head of BPJN Sumbar, said this in Padang on Saturday. She said the equipment used for the bridge repairs will be moved soon, so that during the mudik and balik periods both bridges can be traversed by motorists without hindrance. Generally, the concerns for security by the relevant parties are only the riverbank sides of the bridges facing the river, as the bridge structure itself has not deteriorated. For traffic, four-wheeled vehicles can pass. Trucks such as fuel tankers will follow the Governor’s Decree (SK). Based on BPJN checks, structurally the bridge can bear weights in accordance with national road regulations, namely a maximum MST 10. On that occasion, she also noted the stability of the road surface around the Lembah Anai area following the disaster; BPJN is still focused on strengthening the road bed there. She said all points have been repaired and the next step will be to seal the potholes on the road surface. The target is that by July 2026 there will be no pothole on the road. Finally, BPJN will keep heavy equipment on standby so the team can move quickly on site if a landslide occurs, given that the Lembah Anai area lies in a hilly region.
