BPJN identifies accident-prone and congestion hotspots on Lampung Lebaran migration routes
Bandarlampung – The Balai Pelaksanaan Jalan Nasional (BPJN) Lampung has warned the public to anticipate numerous accident and congestion hotspots across national highways in Lampung Province during the 2026 Lebaran exodus.
“During the 2026 Lebaran migration period, we need to anticipate several accident and congestion-prone locations on the national highway network in Lampung. Accident-prone areas typically occur in uphill or downhill sections, such as in the Tarahan area of South Lampung Regency,” stated BPJN Lampung Head M Ali Duhari in Bandarlampung on Wednesday.
Four national highway sections have been identified as high-risk accident zones. Tarahan, located on the Middle Route, frequently experiences accidents due to brake failure caused by steep descents. Additional hotspots include the Balimbing area in East Kota Agung on the Western Route, Tebing Batu, Manula Lemong Grade on the Western Route, and the Lemong area, also on the Western Route.
The BPJN has identified 15 additional locations prone to traffic congestion across national highways.
“Congestion-prone areas are typically found at tourist destinations, intersections, and market areas,” Duhari explained.
These include Gedong Tataan intersection at Tugu Pengantin in Pesawaran, Pringsewu Market, Krui Market, Liwa Market intersection in West Lampung, Blambangan Umpu, South Kotabumi intersection, and Tugu Cokelat intersection in Pesawaran.
“We have already coordinated with the police and the Transportation Agency to manage traffic flow and prevent prolonged congestion at these locations. Whilst vehicle speed reductions may occur, they should remain within acceptable levels,” he said.
Authorities have coordinated with police and the Transportation Agency for the installation of safety barriers. Concrete barriers have already been installed at Tarahan this year.
