BPIP: Surprise Formation Awaits at 81st Independence Day Ceremony

All members of the 2026 Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka (Paskibraka) have been inaugurated and are ready to take part in the 81st Independence Day ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia. Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) Yudian Wahyudi said the Paskibraka members have an important role in the momentum of Indonesia’s independence commemoration.

“This is a very important day, a historical moment in the commemoration of independence. And on this anniversary date they will play the role that was once performed by the fighters when they proclaimed the independence of the Republic of Indonesia,” Yudian said after the inauguration of the 2026 Paskibraka at the State Palace in Jakarta on Saturday (15/8/2026).

Yudian said the Paskibraka members are being prepared to become the next generation of fighters tasked with grounding the values of Pancasila at both central and regional levels. To carry out this role, the Paskibraka members are considered to need a range of resilience, from physical and ideological to spiritual resilience.

“So it is hoped that in due course they will become Indonesia’s future leaders,” he said.

Deputy Head of BPIP Rima Agristina revealed that there will be a surprise formation at the upcoming 17 August ceremony. According to her, a surprise formation is always prepared every year.

“There will be a surprise. Of course every year there is a surprise formation during the flag-raising. Just wait for 17 August. The speed pattern and marching steps are the same in accordance with the Commander’s regulations. So it is already in line with previous years,” Rima said.

Rima confirmed that preparations for all 2026 Paskibraka members are complete. She said there have been no obstacles, particularly regarding the health of Paskibraka members during the training process up to the inauguration.

“Alhamdulillah, it was carried out on the 15th right on schedule, and this also demonstrates the commitment of the entire government in supporting these young people to truly become competent heirs of Indonesia’s future, cadres of Indonesia’s future leaders,” she said.

“Earlier we saw 76 members representing 38 provinces, all in good health, from the time they entered the training camp until they were inaugurated. Hopefully all of them will be able to carry out their duties smoothly tomorrow. In addition to the central level, at the regional level governors, regents and mayors have also been inaugurating their squads in succession across various regions, and all will serve together on 17 August 2026. That is all,” she continued.
