BPIP Promotes Pancasila Ideology Development in Higher Education Institutions
YOGYAKARTA – The State Ideology Development Board (BPIP) has partnered with Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (UMY) to strengthen Pancasila ideology education among students. The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a memorandum of understanding at UMY’s campus on Friday (13 March 2026).
BPIP Head Yudian Wahyudi stated that the collaboration aims to expand Pancasila ideology development among university students. According to Yudian, campuses play a strategic role in instilling national values in young people.
“This collaboration represents a strategic step in expanding efforts to develop Pancasila ideology in higher education institutions,” he said.
Yudian explained that through the partnership, BPIP and UMY will develop various educational programmes, strengthen national values, and conduct academic activities encouraging students to understand and practise Pancasila values.
“Students have an important role as the nation’s successors. Therefore, strengthening understanding of Pancasila is crucial so that students can face various global challenges,” he asserted.
Yudian added that universities represent a strategic space for instilling Pancasila values in the younger generation. The collaboration is expected to produce various programmes strengthening students’ national character.
“Through this collaboration, we hope to develop various programmes capable of strengthening students’ national character,” he said.
UMY Deputy Rector Zuly Qodir stated that the memorandum of understanding signing represents a shared commitment to strengthening character education based on Pancasila values within the campus environment.
“Collaboration with BPIP will provide tangible contributions to the development of academic and non-academic activities orientated towards Pancasila ideology development,” he said.
Through this collaboration, both parties will promote various activities including seminars, national discussion forums, research, training, and student development programmes focused on strengthening Pancasila values.
The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Acting Deputy Head of Inter-Agency Relations, Socialisation, Communication and Network at BPIP Surahno and UMY’s Deputy Rector for Quality, Reputation and Partnership. The event was witnessed by the BPIP Head and attended by BPIP and UMY officials, along with approximately 300 participants from the academic community.
