BPIP Holds Pancasila Day Ceremony at Gedung Pancasila
The Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) held a Pancasila Day commemoration ceremony at Gedung Pancasila in Jakarta on Monday, 1 June 2026. BPIP Secretary General Tonny Agung Arifianto stated the ceremony was held at Gedung Pancasila as the building is a historical witness to the birth of Pancasila. ‘Gedung Pancasila is where the BPUPKI (Preparatory Committee for Indonesian Independence) meetings took place under the leadership of Dr. Radjiman Wedyodiningrat,’ he said during a press conference streamed on BPIP’s YouTube channel in Jakarta on Friday, 29 May 2026. He added that the venue choice also aims to educate the public about the historic building, which he said should be remembered by the community. The ceremony will host 405 invited guests, but the general public cannot attend due to space constraints. ‘Only a limited number of invitees are allowed. We have invited senior government officials from all ministries and agencies,’ he said. However, he noted the public can still participate in Pancasila Day commemorations through a social service event on Sunday, 31 May 2026. ‘Free health checks, blood donations, and other activities will be available for public involvement,’ he said. President Prabowo Subianto will preside over the ceremony. BPIP Chief Yudian Wahyudi stated the event will commence at 10:00 WIB. Yudian said the 2026 Pancasila Day theme is ‘Pancasila: Unifier of the Nation, Foundation of World Peace’. He explained the theme underscores Pancasila’s relevance in preserving national unity and contributing to global peace. ‘This year’s commemoration uses the national emblem, Garuda Pancasila,’ he added. BPIP has issued Circular No. 2 of 2026 on Guidelines for the 2026 Pancasila Day Commemoration, urging all state institutions, ministries, the military (TNI), police (Polri), local governments, educational institutions, and community groups to fly the Red and White Flag for the entire day on 1 June 2026. BPIP also requested social service activities on 31 May 2026, including blood donations, free health checks, social assistance distribution, affordable markets, community clean-ups, environmental inspections, and religious site maintenance. It also instructed all civil servants to hold ceremonies in their respective regions. The flag-lowering ceremony will take place at 17:00 WIB, conducted briefly and solemnly by Paskibraka without attendees or invited guests.
