The Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) has appreciated the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for conducting a socialisation programme on Pancasila Education learning for educational institutions. The activity has been valued as an important step to strengthen the implementation of Pancasila education in schools.

Irene Camelyn Sinaga, Director of Pancasila Ideology Development Implementation Assessment at BPIP, stated that strengthening Pancasila education requires support from a good learning ecosystem, including the availability of quality main textbooks for students.

According to Irene, Pancasila as the state’s foundation needs to be understood comprehensively by young people through systematic learning processes supported by adequate teaching materials.

“The budgeting of main Pancasila education textbooks becomes an important part in ensuring that Pancasila values can be learnt continuously by students,” she said in a statement received on 12 March.

Supriyatno, Head of the Centre for Books at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, explained that books are a primary instrument in implementing the national curriculum. Therefore, the government is obliged to ensure the availability of quality, affordable, and evenly distributed educational books throughout Indonesia.

He also mentioned that the provision of educational books has been regulated through several regulations, including Law Number 3 of 2017 on the Book System and Government Regulation Number 75 of 2019 which regulates quality standards, assessment, and distribution of educational books.

Meanwhile, Nahdiana, Head of the Education Office of DKI Jakarta Province, emphasised that this socialisation is part of a collective effort to strengthen the foundation of national character through education.

According to Nahdiana, the success of Pancasila education is not only measured by students’ academic grades, but also by behavioural changes in the school environment, such as decreasing cases of bullying, the elimination of violence, and increased tolerance attitudes among students.

She added that strengthening Pancasila education also requires collaboration between schools, families, and communities through a tri-centre education approach so that values taught in schools can be applied in daily life.

BPIP’s Head Yudian Wahyudi emphasised that Pancasila education must become the mainstream in shaping the character of young people. Strengthening state ideology is no longer merely academic discourse, but a key factor in the success of transformation towards Indonesia rooted in Pancasila.
