The Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) announced the 76 candidates for the 2026 National Flag Hoisting Troop (Paskibraka) on Monday (22/6). The candidates represent all 38 provinces in Indonesia and will serve at the Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta during the upcoming Independence Day commemoration on 17 August. The participants will later be inaugurated as the 2026 National Paskibraka and carry out state duties at the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence ceremony at the palace. During a press conference, BPIP Head Yudian Wahyudi stated that the 76 candidates were selected from 119,441 applicants who underwent a phased selection process from the district/city to provincial levels. “Through these stages, each province selected three pairs of the best male and female Paskibraka candidates to participate in the central-level verification,” Yudian said at the BPIP press conference on Monday (22/6). Yudian explained that 228 participants representing the 38 provinces then took part in the central-level Paskibraka candidate verification from 15 to 19 June 2026. “This verification is the final stage to ensure that the selected Paskibraka candidates truly meet the requirements and have the best readiness to carry out state duties,” he said. “We congratulate all selected 2026 National Paskibraka Candidates,” Yudian added. The central-level verification included health checks, parade and drill regulations, as well as personality assessments covering psychological aspects, interests and talents, and interviews.
