Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Badan Pengatur Hilir Minyak dan Gas Bumi (BPH Migas) has stated that natural gas supplies in the East Java and Central Java regions have been optimally utilised.

BPH Migas Head Wahyudi Anas, in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, said that the stability of natural gas production and the reliability of its distribution ensure the fulfilment of energy needs for the industrial sector and society.

“This is in line with the government’s efforts to promote the utilisation of natural gas as the backbone of energy transition,” he said during a specific working visit by Commission XII of the House of Representatives, which discussed the sustainability of oil and gas supplies in East Java in Surabaya, East Java, on Friday (10/4/2026).

To that end, Wahyudi said that integrating the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry is important for the provision and distribution of national energy.

“Integrating natural gas production from upstream and its utilisation in the downstream sector. In accordance with BPH Migas’s duties and functions, we provide the latest reports on the domestic utilisation of natural gas, particularly in East Java,” Wahyudi stated.

Wahyudi added that the reliability of natural gas in East Java encompasses the entire process chain, from production to distribution to various user sectors, such as households, small customers, MSMEs, commercial entities, and industries.

The realisation of natural gas distribution in this region was recorded at 440.33 BBTUD by the end of 2025.

This figure indicates the high level of natural gas utilisation in the region.
