Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Oil and Gas Downstream Regulatory Body (BPH Migas), Wahyudi Anas, inspected several public fuel filling stations (SPBU) in the Pariaman and Padang areas of West Sumatra to ensure that the distribution of subsidised fuel operates in accordance with regulations.

“We have conducted checks on fuel sales, including transaction records. Preliminary results show that for CCTV, Alhamdulillah, the storage capacity is three months, which is sufficiently long,” he stated in a press release in Jakarta on Saturday.

During the inspection on Thursday (16/4), Wahyudi said he examined the subsidised fuel distribution system, which includes the digitalised and integrated fuel transaction system at SPBUs, allowing for accurate and rapid monitoring of receipt and sales data (material balance).

Wahyudi added that all inspection results will be reviewed together with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga as the basis for drawing conclusions, including possible follow-up actions such as guidance or sanctions against SPBUs if subsidised fuel is found to be distributed to ineligible individuals.

This step is BPH Migas’s commitment to ensuring that the governance of subsidised fuel provision and distribution is on target.

“The results of monitoring or supervision will be further coordinated comprehensively, with improvements in services to ensure that subsidised fuel distribution reaches eligible members of the public,” Wahyudi added.

BPH Migas, together with Pertamina, will continue to collaborate to strengthen the governance of subsidised fuel distribution in line with government directives and applicable laws and regulations.

In addition, BPH Migas is encouraging all SPBUs to consistently implement targeted subsidised fuel distribution through preventive and selective mechanisms for eligible consumers.

Furthermore, Wahyudi highlighted the use of the QR code system as a key focus in supervising subsidised fuel distribution.

This system is crucial to ensure that distribution complies with provisions.

“QR code verification must be carried out diligently by SPBUs to prevent repeated purchases. This (QR code) is necessary so that subsidised fuel distribution adheres to the mandatory regulatory governance that must be fulfilled and implemented. Thus, the utilisation of subsidised fuel becomes more precise in volume and on target for those in need,” he explained.

Wahyudi also appreciated the active role of the public in helping to ensure that subsidised fuel distribution reaches those who are entitled, so that the allocation from the state revenue and expenditure budget (APBN) is truly on target.

If the public observes suspected improper distribution of subsidised fuel, it can be reported through the BPH Migas Helpdesk at 081230000136.

The government, he continued, ensures that subsidised fuel distribution continues smoothly, and the public is asked not to make excessive purchases.

“The public does not need to panic buy fuel at SPBUs. Buy fuel in a reasonable and prudent manner,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Executive General Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga for the North Sumatra Region (Sumbagut), Sunardi, stated that this monitoring is a concrete step together to keep subsidised fuel distribution on target while supporting public economic activities.

The inspection was also attended by BPH Migas Committee Member Bambang Hermanto and Sales Branch Manager for West Sumatra 1 Fuel at Pertamina Patra Niaga, Faris Aceriza.
