The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas) has confirmed that natural gas distribution in Central Java remains secure and meets public demand ahead of the 1447 Hijra Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Arief Wardono, a member of the BPH Migas Committee, stated in Jakarta on Sunday that the agency is directly monitoring the reliability of natural gas pipeline distribution for both industry and households in Central Java.

Wardono inspected the Onshore Receiving Facility (ORF) at Tambak Lorok and ORF Tambak Rejo in Semarang, Central Java, on 13-14 March 2026.

The inspection aimed to ensure business entities were prepared to maintain natural gas distribution during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr (Rafi) 2026 period.

At the ORF Tambak Lorok facility, operated by PT Kalimantan Jawa Gas (KJG), Wardono noted that the infrastructure supplies natural gas from upstream to downstream sectors to meet the needs of industrial, commercial, residential piped gas network customers, and state electricity company PT PLN’s power plants in Central Java.

“Although the natural gas supply from the Kepodang Field source at KJG is not particularly large, it remains a strategic sector for Central Java, distributed to gas fuel filling stations, piped gas networks, and PLN,” he said.

At the ORF Tambak Rejo facility operated by PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) Operation East Java Area, Wardono emphasised that natural gas infrastructure reliability must be maintained throughout the Eid period, despite several industries reducing operational activities.

Wardono expressed appreciation for Pertagas’s performance in maintaining natural gas distribution operations during this period.

“We commend the Pertagas team who remain on duty ensuring natural gas supply to the public continues until the end of the Rafi period,” he stated.

Both KJG and Pertagas announced they have formed task forces during the 2026 Eid period to ensure the reliability of natural gas distribution systems.

During the inspection of a fuel station at Rest Area KM 379A in Batang, Central Java, Wardono also verified that fuel stocks were available and services were functioning well for holiday travellers.

“Fuel stocks here are sufficient and service is good. We express our appreciation to PT Pertamina for serving the public with genuine commitment in welcoming Rafi 2026. We remain committed to monitoring fuel reliability to ensure the comfort of travellers journeying to their respective home regions,” he said.

Achmad Rifqi, Sales Area Manager for the Semarang area at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated that the company has prepared additional facilities during the Eid period to maintain energy supply along the migration routes in Central Java.
