Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - The Committee of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas) is directly monitoring the optimisation of natural gas network (jargas) services for customers in Lamongan and Bojonegoro Regencies, East Java. “This visit ensures that jargas services are optimal while absorbing aspirations from the community and operators for future development,” said BPH Migas Committee Member for the 2025–2029 period, Baskara Agung Wibawa, in Surabaya on Friday. Baskara explained that they are also seeking various proposals from PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN) and the community, including those related to pricing and solutions for future jargas development. Based on the results of the visit to East Java, he confirmed that all energy supplies, including fuels, piped gas, and electricity, are in a safe condition without significant obstacles, including during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. In fact, he said, the utilisation of jargas has proven to increase efficiency, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), such as the otak-otak bandeng business. Baskara also appreciated all stakeholders, including Pertamina Patra Niaga, PGN, Gagas, Pertagas, and Pertagas Niaga, for maintaining energy supplies during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr period. “The development of MSMEs needs to be a joint concern not only for the government but also for PGN so that business actors obtain affordable, reliable energy sourced domestically, thereby supporting energy sovereignty,” he stated. Meanwhile, the General Manager of PGN SOR III, Hedi Hedianto, explained that the management of jargas in the SOR III region, particularly in Lamongan, continues to develop with increasingly optimal services. Hedi said that the potential for jargas development remains very large, thus requiring strengthened synergy to optimise the utilisation of natural gas as domestic energy. “We hope that synergy between regulators, government, and PGN can continue to be strengthened to encourage future jargas development,” said Hedi.
