Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas), Wahyudi Anas, is examining the fairness of subsidised fuel oil (BBM) distribution in West Sumatra to identify potential unusual spikes in subsidised BBM consumption. The inspection was carried out during typically quiet demand periods, such as midnight to early morning, at several Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBUs) located in the Koto Tangah and South Padang sub-districts of West Sumatra on Friday (17/4). “We will review CCTV recordings that indicate vehicles entering and exiting the SPBU repeatedly or helicopters, changing number plates and using different police number plates,” Wahyudi said in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday. Together with Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN), BPH Migas is monitoring SPBUs on strategic routes, such as along the Padang Bypass Road connecting Minangkabau International Airport and Teluk Bayur Port. Wahyudi stated that BPH Migas, along with PPN, will evaluate sales data at the SPBUs, including identifying potential corrections if subsidised BBM distribution is found to be not to eligible consumers. “Such as repeated purchases and QR codes that differ from the police number used. Then, the second one, purchases exceeding the quota limit per vehicle that has been set,” he said. Wahyudi urged SPBU operators to always ensure that subsidised BBM distribution is on target and reaches the right recipients, given that subsidies are state budget funds intended for eligible citizens.
