The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) has expressed appreciation for the awareness of consumers in Pekanbaru, Riau, who have been using subsidised and compensated fuels (BBM) in a reasonable and prudent manner. Head of BPH Migas Wahyudi Anas stated that this public awareness is the result of continuous socialisation efforts carried out by the central government, regional governments, and PT Pertamina Patra Niaga as the assigned business entity. While conducting direct monitoring at several public fuel filling stations (SPBU) in the Riau region, Wahyudi commended residents and logistics truck drivers who purchased subsidised and compensated fuel according to their operational needs. During the monitoring, which was accompanied by BPH Migas Committee Member Harya Adityawarman, Wahyudi engaged in dialogue with various users of subsidised fuel, ranging from clean water couriers using pick-up trucks to drivers of four-wheeled vehicles or larger. Such practices help maintain the equitable distribution of subsidised fuel. ‘We communicated with consumers who use subsidised and compensated fuel. The people here in Pekanbaru are very wise, as they only buy fuel in sufficient quantities,’ he said during a visit to an SPBU in Tampan District, Pekanbaru. He noted that one consumer purchased 20 litres of compensated fuel to last four days, while another bought a maximum of 15 litres per day, according to the distance travelled.
