BPH Migas and Pertamina Collaborate to Prevent Long Queues at Petrol Stations

The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) and PT Pertamina (Persero) are continuing to implement various mitigation measures to prevent long queues at public fuel stations (SPBU) in several regions. This comes amid rising consumption of subsidised fuels, especially Pertalite and Solar.

Head of BPH Migas Wahyudi Anas stated that the queuing issues that had emerged in several areas only occurred at specific points and were immediately addressed together with Pertamina.

“We, together with the Pertamina Group, are continuously working hard, giving our best effort to provide optimal service to the public. If short-term queues occur, we cannot just clarify and mitigate; we immediately work to resolve them,” Wahyudi said at the CNBC Indonesia Energy Forum, quoted on Wednesday (1/7/2026).

On the other hand, Wahyudi acknowledged that the consumption of subsidised fuel has indeed increased, particularly for Solar. This is in line with a shift in usage from non-subsidised to subsidised fuel.

As of day 172 of 2026, the realisation of subsidised Solar distribution has reached 101.98% compared to the same period the previous year, an increase of approximately 1.98%.

Meanwhile, Pertalite consumption has also risen. The government has prepared a Pertalite quota of 29.27 million kilolitres for 2026, which is about 21% higher than normal demand. Despite the increase, current consumption realisation remains below the quota.

“For Pertalite, consumption is also quite significant. The state has provided 29.27 million kilolitres, and this represents an increase of approximately 21% from normal needs,” he said.
