The Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) is strengthening the promotion of Indonesian plantation commodities, especially cocoa, through the development of value-added products and the strengthening of the downstream industry. BPDP Institutional Cooperation Division Analyst Dinda stated that Indonesian cocoa commodities have enormous potential for further development. Therefore, BPDP is committed to encouraging the creation of processed cocoa products capable of competing in the global market and providing higher added value for all actors in the industrial chain. “BPDP wants to encourage this through support for human resource development, research and innovation, promotion, and strengthening the industrial ecosystem,” she said. At the largest food and beverage industry exhibition in Eastern Indonesia, BPDP distributed various information about plantation commodity development programmes and showcased several processed cocoa products demonstrating the great potential of the Indonesian cocoa industry. “These products are clear examples that plantation commodities can be processed into high-quality food products that can compete in both national and global markets,” Dinda said. BPDP’s participation in EastFood Indonesia 2026 also aims to educate the public about the importance of downstream processing in increasing the added value of plantation commodities, including cocoa. During the exhibition, the BPDP stand held various educational and interactive activities, such as sessions introducing processed cocoa products, discussions on the opportunities for the Indonesian cocoa industry, and engaging activities inviting visitors to get to know more closely the transformation process of cocoa from a plantation commodity into a ready-to-consume product. “We hope the Indonesian cocoa industry can continue to grow into a leading sector that contributes to national economic growth through collaboration with various stakeholders,” Dinda said.
