The Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) utilised the Indonesia Tourism and Trade Investment Expo (ITTIE) 2026 to introduce various derivative products based on palm oil, coconut, and cocoa. This initiative seeks to broaden market access for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) while demonstrating the high value-added potential of downstream plantation commodities.

BPDP views ITTIE 2026 as a platform to connect business actors, investors, and the public in advancing the plantation sector. Through the exhibition, BPDP also introduced programmes related to human resource development, downstream processing, and strengthening the competitiveness of the national plantation industry.

Murti Pagar Intan, Senior Staff of BPDP’s Institutional Cooperation and SME Division, stated that BPDP’s participation in ITTIE 2026 aims to open wider opportunities for plantation SMEs to grow. ‘Additionally, this activity serves as a means to introduce various derivative products of plantation commodities to a broader public,’ Murti said in a statement on Wednesday (17/6/2026).

During the four-day ITTIE 2026 event held from 11-14 June 2026 at Plaza Surabaya, the BPDP booth was visited by around 350 people who interacted directly with the various products and educational materials on display. The booth’s strategic location within the shopping centre also allowed it to reach over 2,000 visitors.

Murti said the exhibition also enhanced public understanding of human resource development in the plantation sector and encouraged SMEs to increase their business capacity and expand their markets. ‘This event also serves as an educational medium to strengthen public understanding and build a positive perception of plantation commodities, particularly palm oil, coconut, and cocoa, along with their contribution to the national economy,’ Murti added.

At the exhibition, BPDP showcased a number of products from fostered SMEs that utilise plantation commodities as their primary raw materials. The products on display included batik from Jayanti Batik of Malang and Smart Batik of Yogyakarta, which use palm-based dyes; bag and sandal crafts from Cambia Craft Aceh, which utilise palm frond sticks; and a beverage made from pure coconut water by Choco Frizz.

BPDP also introduced innovations resulting from the Palm Oil Research Grant Programme. One item that drew significant visitor attention was a bulletproof vest developed using palm oil-based biomaterials.

‘Through this exhibition, BPDP hopes to introduce the downstream potential of plantation commodities to the wider public, while demonstrating that palm oil, cocoa, and coconut not only produce food products but can also serve as sources of raw materials for various innovative, high-value-added, and competitive products,’ said Krisna.

For its participation in ITTIE 2026, the BPDP booth received the Most Innovative Stand award and first place for Best Stand. BPDP hopes that the various innovations displayed will encourage the development of the downstream plantation industry while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian products in broader markets.
