The Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) is encouraging the utilisation of plantation commodities in the development of downstream products and the halal industry ecosystem through its participation in Halal Indo 2026 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang.

Muhammad Farouq Rosyadi, BPDP Institutional Cooperation Analyst, stated that the agency’s participation in Halal Indo 2026 serves as a platform to bring information regarding BPDP’s roles and programmes closer to the public. Education is also directed towards demonstrating the potential of palm oil, cocoa, and coconut commodities to produce value-added products.

“Through this activity, we want to introduce the role of BPDP so that it is easily understood, while simultaneously showing how palm oil, cocoa, and coconut commodities can be developed to provide added value for the community,” he said.

Halal Indo 2026 took place from 24–27 September 2026. The event was opened on the first day by the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and brought together various stakeholders to strengthen the ecosystem, expand business networks, and increase the competitiveness of the national halal industry in the global market.

During the event, BPDP acted as a sponsor and presented an educational booth. In addition to introducing BPDP’s roles and programmes, the booth showcased various processed and innovative products from MSMEs within the plantation sector.

Products presented included palm oil-based handicraft bags from Mandiri Handcraft Langsa, Aceh; cleaning products and pastries made from processed palm oil from LPP Yogyakarta; chocolate products from Afa Cokelat, Jember; and coconut-based beverages from Cocodrink, Jakarta.

The presence of these products demonstrates the diverse potential for downstreaming plantation commodities into value-added products. The participation of MSMEs also provides a space to introduce products to the public while opening opportunities for interaction and networking with business actors and halal industry stakeholders.

In addition to the educational booth, BPDP provided several interactive activities for visitors during Halal Indo 2026. These activities were designed to provide an educational experience while introducing plantation commodities and BPDP programmes to the public.

On Sunday (27/9/2026), BPDP provided education regarding its programmes on the main stage of Halal Indo 2026. The activities continued with a workshop on creating handicrafts made from cocoa or chocolate, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about the utilisation of plantation commodities for creative, value-added products.

Through this participation, BPDP also expanded its network with business actors, MSMEs, the public, and other stakeholders. This effort is part of the support for the development of plantation commodities and downstream products that are productive, innovative, sustainable, and competitive.
