BPDLH Strengthens Social Forestry in South Kalimantan through BFM Programme
The Environmental Fund Management Agency (BPDLH) is strengthening social forestry in South Kalimantan through a Blended Finance Model (BFM) programme valued at Rp14.57 billion, targeting eight business groups encompassing 163 beneficiaries to improve community welfare.
Head of the South Kalimantan Forestry Service, Fathimatuzzahra, stated that South Kalimantan is one of seven provinces in Indonesia receiving BFM grant funding for 2026–2027, resulting from collaboration between BPDLH, the provincial government, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), and the Ministry of Forestry.
“This programme is a strategic step to strengthen the capacity of social forestry business groups so they can develop productive, sustainable forest-based enterprises,” she said.
Through this programme, she hopes to build strong synergy among stakeholders while delivering tangible benefits for environmental sustainability and improving the welfare of communities living around forest areas.
Ariadi Noor, Assistant for Economy and Development at the South Kalimantan Provincial Secretariat, expressed appreciation to BPDLH, the Ministry of Forestry, GGGI Indonesia, and all partners who have supported the programme’s implementation.
According to him, strengthening social forestry is an important instrument for improving community welfare without neglecting environmental sustainability, while simultaneously opening new economic opportunities for business groups at the grassroots level.
The BFM programme in South Kalimantan is not only focused on increasing the production of leading social forestry commodities but also on developing non-timber forest products, environmental services, and strengthening community business capacity to gain broader access to financing and markets.
