Strong commitment towards financing and empowerment of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) has led Bank Pembangunan Daerah (BPD) Bali to receive the prestigious Excellence in MSME Financial Inclusion and Empowerment 2026 award at the Indonesia Top Achievements of the Year (ITAY) 2026 ceremony held at Metro TV in Jakarta.

The award was received directly by Chief Executive Officer of BPD Bali I. Nyoman Sudharma, accompanied by Head of Corporate Secretary Division Sanjaya Caesar. This recognition reflects the bank’s strategic role in expanding financial access and strengthening the competitiveness of UMKM as the backbone of the regional economy. The ITAY judging panel assessed that BPD Bali consistently prioritises the UMKM sector as a primary focus in business operations and regional development.

Key performance indicators that formed the basis of the assessment included the significant proportion of UMKM credit from total financing portfolio, support for financing productive local sectors such as tourism, trade and agriculture, financial literacy programmes and UMKM mentoring initiatives, digitalisation of banking services to facilitate easier access to financing, and commitment to maintaining bank health through prudential banking principles. The strategy has been assessed not only to expand access to capital but also to drive transformation and sustainability of local businesses in Bali.

The ITAY 2026 event was opened by Metro TV Commissioner Suryopratomo and attended by national figures, BUMN/BUMD leaders, regulators and financial industry practitioners. During the judging panel’s assessment, one of the judges, Prof. Martani Huseini, stated that financial inclusion is the foundation of economic equity.

“BPD Bali demonstrates how a regional bank can become an engine of sustainable UMKM empowerment,” she said in an official statement.

ITAY founder Arief Hidayat Thamrin added that the award was given to institutions that not only channel credit but also build an empowerment ecosystem.

“BPD Bali has successfully integrated financing, mentorship and digital transformation,” he said.

BPD Bali is a bank owned by the Government of Bali Province that plays a strategic role in supporting regional development through commercial banking services and UMKM financing. With focus on financial inclusion, digital transformation and local economic empowerment, BPD Bali continues to strengthen its contribution to sustainable economic growth in Bali.
