BPBD Warns of Heavy Rain in Cianjur Over Next Two Days

Cianjur (ANTARA) – The Cianjur Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in West Java has issued a heavy rain warning, forecasting widespread rainfall across the region over the next two days, urging residents to remain vigilant. BPBD Secretary Asep Sudrajat stated on Monday that this is based on an early warning from the Bandung Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), predicting heavy rain across most of West Java, including Cianjur. Residents in disaster-prone areas must heighten preparedness and vigilance, including being alert to natural signs of impending disasters and evacuating immediately during heavy rainfall, particularly at night. Authorities have deployed personnel and 360 volunteers across villages and districts to enhance monitoring and respond swiftly to disasters, including evacuations when natural warning signs are observed. Additionally, operators of natural tourism sites, particularly water and beach attractions, are advised to prohibit visitors from approaching water bodies or swimming near shorelines due to the risk of sudden high waves threatening safety. ‘We are engaging various stakeholders, including the public, to report current conditions over the next two days of predicted heavy rain and to intensify disaster preparedness and vigilance,’ said Sudrajat. The agency noted that over the past two months, floods and landslides have affected several districts, including Mande, Cikalongkulon, Sukaluyu, Karangtengah, Cibeber, and Campaka, forcing dozens of families to evacuate.
