BPBD Warns 20 Districts in Pandeglang Threatened by Drought

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pandeglang has stated that the Pandeglang region is currently experiencing the dry season. As a result, 20 districts in Pandeglang have a high potential for drought. “The potential for drought in Pandeglang Regency, based on disaster risk assessment data, shows a high potential for drought in 20 districts and 150 villages,” said Head of BPBD Pandeglang, Riza Ahmad Kurniawan, on Tuesday (14/7/2026). The twenty districts are Sumur, Sukaresmi, Saketi, Pulosari, Patia, Pagelaran, Menes, Mandalawangi, Labuan, Jiput, Cisata, Cimanggu, Cikeusik, Cikeudal, Cibitung, Carita, Angsana, Sindangresmi, Cadasari, and Karangtanjung. Other districts face a moderate potential. Riza stated that three areas—Karangtanjung, Angsana, and Sindangresmi—are already experiencing drought. He said the BPBD team has dispatched clean water to the affected areas. “We have temporarily distributed clean water to three districts,” he said. Riza could not yet record the number of people potentially affected by the phenomenon. His team is currently continuing mitigation efforts and data collection. “For the number of individuals or households potentially affected, data collection is still ongoing,” he concluded. Meanwhile, the Head of the Fire Department at BPBD, Yosep Mardini, stated that there is a potential for fires in residential areas, land, and forests during the dry season. To prevent fires in residential areas, he urged residents to check their electrical installations regularly. “The use of electrical cables should be checked regularly, because many cables are not up to standard or may be aged and unchecked. Chargers should not be left constantly plugged in, and gas cylinder hoses and regulators also need to be inspected,” he said. Yosep appealed to residents not to carelessly discard cigarette butts or burn land. This can trigger land and forest fires, which damage the ecosystem. “Do not throw away cigarette butts or burn land, as when left unattended it can trigger fires. If a fire occurs, it will be very detrimental. For land, it damages the ecology and ecosystem; bare forests cannot absorb water and are also prone to landslides,” he stated.
