BPBD: Three Jember Residents on KM Virgo Manifest Still Missing

The Head of the Jember Regional Disaster Management Agency (BProl), Edy Budi Susilo, stated that three individuals from Jember Regency, East Java, are listed on the passenger manifest of KM Virgo Transport 8 and remain missing.

“The three passengers are M Abdul Rosyd (30) from Seruni Village, Jenggawah District; Niki Armi (34) from Karangduren Village, Jenggawah; and Afii from Seputih Village, Mayang District,” he said in Jember on Wednesday.

According to him, Jember BPBD officers have visited the homes of the three passengers on the KM Virgo manifest to request detailed physical data. This information will be submitted to the Jember Basarnas SAR Post, which will then be forwarded to Basarnas and the East Java BPBD.

“This data is for the purpose of examination by the DVI (Disaster Victim Identification) Team should the three passengers be found, as the search process is still ongoing for 129 passengers, including the three residents of Jember,” he explained.

“Regarding the passenger named Afii, we only learned of his involvement today, so we have dispatched a Rapid Response Team (TRC) to visit the victim’s family home to gather detailed physical data for the Basarnas search team’s requirements,” he added.

Edy expressed hope that the three Jember residents would be found safe and sound. Jember BPBD continues to coordinate with the East Java BPBD for the latest updates should the joint SAR team locate more victims from KM Virgo.

KM Virgo Transport 8 met with an accident in the Masalembo waters, Java Sea, on Sunday (13/9) while en route from Surabaya to Banjarmasin.

Based on Basarnas data, as of Tuesday (15/9) night, 114 victims have been located, consisting of 108 survivors and six fatalities. Consequently, 129 individuals remain missing out of the total 243 passengers listed on the KM Virgo manifest.
