BPBD Temanggung Assesses Five Hamlets Requesting Clean Water Amid Drought

The Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) of Temanggung is currently assessing the drought conditions in five hamlets that have submitted requests for clean water assistance. The affected hamlets—Gentan, Suruh, Setro, Wonogiri, and Sejarak—are all located in Gentan Village, Kranggan District.

Kepala BPBD Temanggung, Totok Nursetyanto, stated that the assessment is crucial for determining the next steps. "This assessment serves as the basis for deciding our subsequent actions," he told reporters on Tuesday.

Totok explained that once the distribution of clean water begins, BPBD will coordinate with the village government and residents to determine the most suitable delivery time, whether in the morning, afternoon, evening, or night. This scheduling aims to ensure that the water distribution is effective and reaches the intended recipients by aligning with the community’s availability. He confirmed that the official request for clean water assistance from the residents of Gentan Village had been received.

The field assessment is intended to verify the actual condition of the water sources in the area before any water distribution is carried out. The agency will check whether the residents are truly experiencing a water shortage or if there is merely a decrease in water discharge. If the inspection results show that the local water sources can no longer meet the community’s needs due to the drought, BPBD will include the area in its regular clean water distribution schedule.
