BPBD Says Volcanic Ash Fall from Anak Krakatau in Pandeglang Is Beginning to Subside

Volcanic ash fall from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in Pandeglang is showing a positive trend. The intensity of ash fall in the area has now begun to decline.

“Since yesterday there has been a reduction in activity. That doesn’t mean it has stopped, but there has been a slight decrease,” said the Head of the Pandeglang BPBD, Riza Ahmad Kurniawan, to journalists on Monday (7/9/2026).

Riza explained that the reduced intensity of the ash fall corresponds with the declining eruptive activity of Mount Anak Krakatau. However, volcanic ash is still scattered across Pandeglang, albeit at low intensity.

“In line with the reduced activity of Mount Anak Krakatau, the material being emitted is not like yesterday; the volcanic ash is starting to decrease,” Riza explained.

According to Riza, nearly all areas of Pandeglang have been affected by the ash distribution. In each area, the ash varies in thickness.

“The spread of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau’s material is fairly even across almost the entire regency of Pandeglang, although the intensity differs from area to area — some thick, some not — depending on the wind direction,” he said.

He added that the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau has also produced tremors felt by residents. As a result of the shaking, one house was reported to have suffered minor damage.

“One house experienced minor damage due to the tremors from Mount Anak Krakatau’s activity,” he concluded.
