BPBD Reports 415 Villages in Banten Prone to Drought

The Banten Provincial Government has recorded that 415 villages and sub-districts across 105 districts are potentially facing drought during this year’s dry season. The Banten Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is now soliciting donations from the public to meet the clean water supply needs in the affected areas. Based on BPBD Banten data, Pandeglang Regency has the highest mapping of drought-prone areas with 111 villages, followed by Lebak Regency with 109 villages. Head of BPBD Banten, Lutfi Mujahidin, explained that his agency is still using the previous year’s mapping data as a reference for mitigation measures. “We are using the latest data to take further steps because the 2025 data is still relevant for the current drought mitigation,” Lutfi said on Tuesday (22/6/2026). Lutfi stressed that the main focus of BPBD Banten’s anticipation efforts is maintaining the availability of clean water for the community’s basic daily needs. The provincial and district/city BPBD have begun sending clean water supplies to several locations. “The most crucial drought impact to address is the shortage of clean water for consumption and drinking,” he said. “Our water reserves are still very insufficient. Actually, the price of water is cheap, one tank may only cost around Rp30,000 to Rp50,000, but the expensive part is the distribution cost,” Lutfi explained. Therefore, BPBD Banten is opening opportunities for the wider community who wish to participate in the Clean Water Distribution Donation programme. “That is why we are encouraging the public to donate clean water.
