BPBD Rejang Lebong Bengkulu mobilises heavy equipment on Lebaran mudik route
Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu — The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, has mobilised heavy equipment to anticipate potential landslides on the Lebaran 2026 mudik route in the area. M Budianto, Head of Implementation of BPBD Rejang Lebong, when contacted in Rejang Lebong on Friday, said the move is intended to ensure the safety and comfort of travellers using the inter-provincial route in the area.
‘BPBD Rejang Lebong has mobilised heavy equipment comprising one loader and one mini excavator. At present, the equipment remains at the office, but once mudik traffic begins to move, they will be deployed on the Curup-Lubuklinggau Road, South Sumatra,’ he said.
He explained that BPBD is part of an integrated team with the Rejang Lebong Police Resort (Polres Rejang Lebong) and other related authorities, where in addition to mobilising heavy equipment, they will also deploy personnel to staff service posts at several strategic points.
‘We will reassess locations with high landslide potential or those where landslides have previously occurred. At these points, warning signs will be installed to make travellers more vigilant and avoid getting trapped,’ he added.
Meanwhile, for security at tourist attractions, their role will be monitoring only, as each attraction operator already has an internal supervisory team. The primary focus of BPBD personnel remains on ensuring smooth traffic flow on the mudik route.
Regarding weather, he urged the public and travellers to actively monitor weather developments via the official channels of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).
