Simpang Empat (ANTARA) - The West Pasaman Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), West Sumatra, has stated that permanent housing assistance (huntap) for natural disaster victims is still in the evaluation stage by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

“For West Pasaman, we are receiving assistance for 30 permanent housing units (huntap) from BNPB’s ready-to-use funds (DSP), with Rp60 million per unit,” said BPBD West Pasaman Secretary Refi Putra in Simpang Empat on Monday.

He explained that once the evacuation is complete, the assistance funds will be transferred to the respective recipients’ accounts.

According to him, the construction of permanent housing for severely damaged homes will consist of three units in Kinali Sub-district, one unit in Gunung Tuleh Sub-district, three units in Pasaman Sub-district, 11 units in Talamau Sub-district, and 12 units in Ranah Batahan Sub-district.

“The construction of the huntap will see four units built at the original locations and 26 units at new locations or self-managed relocations,” he said.

He elaborated that accelerating the construction of huntap involves not only physical aspects but also ensuring all procedures comply with regulations to avoid future issues.

His side is prioritising the acceleration of fulfilling administrative requirements and other technical aspects so that disaster-affected communities can obtain decent housing.

“We hope the huntap can be realised quickly so that natural disaster victims can obtain proper homes,” he hoped.

West Pasaman is one of the areas affected by the natural disaster at the end of November last year. Several residents’ homes suffered severe, moderate, and minor damage.

“Assistance for moderately and lightly damaged homes has been distributed to recipients totalling Rp1,005,000,000. This includes Rp450 million for constructing 15 moderately damaged homes, with each house receiving Rp30 million,” he said.

For assistance to lightly damaged homes, it amounts to Rp555 million for constructing 37 units, with each house receiving Rp15 million.
