BPBD: Nagan Raya Aceh Land Fires Spread to 17 Hectares
Nagan Raya (ANTARA) - BPBD Nagan Raya, Aceh Province, and joint teams continue efforts to extinguish forest and land fires in Darul Makmur and Tripa Makmur sub-districts. ‘The burned peatland area is estimated to have reached approximately 17 hectares,’ said BPBD Nagan Raya Acting Head Irfanda Rinaldi to ANTARA in Suka Makmue on Monday. The fire locations are in Kaye Unoe Gampong, Darul Makmur, and Babah Lueng Gampong, Tripa Makmur. Extreme weather and limited water sources are major obstacles to firefighting efforts. After receiving reports, BPBD Nagan Raya and joint teams moved to the fire sites. However, conditions are extremely challenging due to high temperatures of 32°C and strong west winds at 15 km/h, making firefighting difficult. BPBD has deployed two portable water pumps to assist in extinguishing the flames. The joint team includes BPBD personnel, Nagan Raya Police, and the Nagan Raya Military District Command. Irfanda stated that efforts are ongoing to contain the fire spread and prevent further expansion.
