BPBD Handles Fallen Tree Blocking Main Bandung-Cianjur Route
Cianjur (ANTARA) - The Cianjur Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency in West Java, along with personnel, carried out rapid handling to reopen the main Bandung-Cianjur route, which was temporarily disrupted by a fallen tree blocking the road, on Saturday evening.
Cianjur BPBD Secretary Asep Sudrajat, in Cianjur on Saturday, stated that there were no fatalities or vehicle damage from the large tree that fell precisely on Jalan Raya Haurwangi-Cianjur.
However, traffic flow was obstructed in both directions because the entire road surface was covered by the tree, leading to queues of vehicles from Cianjur towards Bandung or vice versa continuing to lengthen, prompting officers to implement traffic diversion.
“The evacuation process for the fallen tree blocking the road is being expedited by a joint team of TNI/Polri, Cianjur Fire Department, Cianjur PMI, and volunteers so that traffic flow can return to normal in both directions,” he said.
Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that struck most areas of Cianjur, including Haurwangi Subdistrict, caused the tree to fall at three points besides the national road; the other two points were on regency roads connecting subdistricts.
“We are striving for the rapid handling to be completed before midnight, as the evacuation process for the fallen tree is hampered by the heavy rain that continues until night,” he said.
He added that the heavy rain accompanied by strong winds also caused the main route connecting Cianjur to the southern region to be disrupted precisely in Cilaku Subdistrict due to a large tree falling across the road.
The handling process is being carried out by a joint team assisted by local residents so that the tree material can be quickly removed and vehicle traffic can pass normally.
