The dry season has once again presented challenges for residents on the slopes of Mount Merapi in Klaten Regency, Central Java. Difficulties in obtaining clean water have forced thousands of families in four villages to rely on aid distribution from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

As of mid-July 2026, a total of 1,485,000 litres of clean water had been distributed to 3,272 families, or approximately 10,708 individuals, in the villages of Tegalmulyo, Tlogowatu, Sidorejo, and Kendalsari. The aid has been essential in meeting the daily needs of the community as water sources diminish due to the dry season.
