MEULABOH — West Aceh Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has deployed personnel to combat forest and land fires (karhutla) in Kuta Padang Layung and Beurawang villages in Bubon subdistrict. “Currently, the burned area has reached approximately two hectares,” said Acting Head of West Aceh Regency BPBD Teuku Ronal Nehdiansyah to reporters on Monday. The agency, along with joint task force personnel, continues to work on controlling the situation on the ground. Following the report, the agency immediately conducted on-site inspections to prepare an initial report and implement intensive management efforts. To suppress the flames, the West Aceh BPBD deployed at least 15 personnel from its command post, assisted by three firefighters from Woyla subdistrict’s fire station. The response also involved strong collaboration from local military (Koramil), police (Polsek), and residents. “Access roads to the fire site are difficult for vehicles to navigate, and strong winds at the location have caused the fire to spread rapidly,” explained Teuku Ronal. The West Aceh BPBD also deployed several vehicles and two water pumps to aid firefighting efforts at the land fire site in Bubon subdistrict. “The current burned area is estimated at around two hectares. Due to the risk of further spread, the joint task force remains on standby and is conducting strict monitoring at the site,” said Teuku Ronal Nehdiansyah.
