Cimahi (ANTARA) - The Cimahi City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) in West Java has reported that 129 houses were damaged by a tornado that struck the area on Friday afternoon. Fitriandy Kurniawan, the acting head of BPBD Cimahi, said in Cimahi on Friday that the damaged homes were spread across three affected areas, with the most damage recorded in Padasuka urban village, Cimahi Tengah District. ‘The preliminary data we have shows 129 houses damaged by the tornado across three affected areas. In addition to residents’ homes, two mosques and one RW office in the area were also reported damaged due to the strong winds. ‘Most damage is light and moderate. There are three houses with heavy damage. Officials are still conducting data collection,’ he added. The tornado disaster also left four residents with minor injuries from roofs and other debris. In addition to Padasuka, 12 houses in Cimahi urban village, Cimahi Tengah District, were affected by the strong winds with light damage and no fatalities. ‘In Cimahi urban village there are 12 houses with light damage. Fortunately, there were no casualties,’ he said. Meanwhile, in the area near the government office complex in Cimahi City there were two trees that fell, one on Rd. Hardjakusumah Street and the other on Ciawitali Street. The fallen trees damaged a vendor’s cart and a vehicle at the scene.
