BPBD Cilacap Distributes 19 Water Tankers to Drought-Affected Areas

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cilacap Regency, Central Java, has moved swiftly to address the clean water crisis caused by the dry season. As of 30 June 2026, a total of 19 tankers of clean water have been distributed to several areas beginning to feel the impact of drought.

Head of BPBD Cilacap, Taryo, explained that the distribution of aid is tailored to the actual conditions and level of need in each region. BPBD is also conducting regular monitoring to ensure the handling of the water crisis remains responsive.

"We are striving to ensure that the community’s clean water needs are met during the dry season. Distribution will continue according to conditions on the ground," Taryo stated on Thursday (2/7).

Based on BPBD Cilacap data up to the end of June, the water aid has reached seven villages spread across six sub-districts. "Overall, we have distributed 19 tankers of clean water to seven villages in six sub-districts," he added.

As a long-term measure to face the peak of the dry season, BPBD Cilacap has declared a drought emergency alert status. The water distribution fleet has also been placed on full standby to accelerate mobilisation of aid to vulnerable points.

The agency is also requesting cooperation from the public to use water wisely and to actively report the latest conditions in their areas. "We urge the public to use water wisely. If there is an area that needs clean water assistance, please coordinate immediately with the village government or submit a request to BPBD so we can follow up promptly," Taryo concluded.
