BPBD Cilacap Distributes 1.4 Million Litres of Clean Water to 28,000 Residents Amid El Niño Drought

The Cilacap Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has distributed 1,476,000 litres of clean water to 10,999 families, or approximately 28,000 residents, across 34 villages as drought conditions worsen in the Central Java regency.

Kepala Pelaksana BPBD Cilacap, Taryo, stated that the water distribution is an effort to help meet the basic needs of residents in drought-affected areas. According to BPBD Cilacap’s recapitulation, the aid has been delivered via 279 water tanks. Of these, 92 tanks, or around 460,000 litres, were funded by the Cilacap Regency Budget (APBD), while 187 tanks, or approximately 1,016,000 litres, came from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support.

“The distribution of clean water continues to be carried out to help communities affected by drought, especially in areas experiencing difficulty obtaining water for daily needs,” Taryo said on Friday (14 August).

Assistance has reached 34 villages across 13 sub-districts in Cilacap Regency, with distribution carried out in stages according to the needs and conditions of each area. BPBD Cilacap has also involved various parties in handling the drought’s impact, with CSR support playing a significant role in expanding the reach of clean water distribution.

Taryo emphasised that BPBD Cilacap will continue to monitor the affected areas and adjust aid distribution based on the needs of communities on the ground. With drought conditions still occurring in several areas, residents requiring clean water assistance can coordinate with their village governments so that BPBD can supply the necessary clean water.
