Bogor Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported 138 homes flooded due to Cijayanti River overflow in Cijayanti Village, Babakanmadang Subdistrict, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Sunday.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section BPBD Bogor, M. Adam Hamdani, said the flooding occurred after prolonged heavy rainfall in the area.

“Due to prolonged heavy rain, the Cijayanti River overflowed, affecting residential areas,” Adam stated in the BPBD Bogor Pusdalops-PB report.

He explained that flooding began around 17:15 WIB in Babakan Cicerewed Village, impacting several RTs in RW 01, 02, 06, and 09 of Cijayanti Village.

Water levels ranged from 70 centimetres to approximately 150 centimetres in affected residential areas.

BPBD Bogor’s preliminary assessment found 138 households, totalling around 456 people, were affected.

In addition to submerged homes, one house in RT 03, RW 01 belonging to resident Enjuh was severely damaged and collapsed. The two-person household had to evacuate to a relative’s home in the same area.

BPBD confirmed no casualties or lives were at risk in the incident.

A joint team from BPBD Bogor, fire department (Damkar), Babakan Madang Subdistrict Municipal Police (Satpol PP), village officials, Destana disaster volunteers, and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) were deployed for emergency response.

“Actions taken include rapid assessments, disaster education, coordination with local authorities, and water pumping in flooded areas,” Adam said.

BPBD also noted urgent needs for emergency logistical assistance among affected residents.

By Sunday evening, floodwaters had begun to recede. Residents and emergency teams were still clearing mud and standing water from homes.
