Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pidie Jaya Regency, Aceh Province, states that 543 families affected by the disaster in the regency have occupied temporary housing (huntara). Acting Head of Pidie Jaya Regency BPBD, Okta Handipa, contacted from Banda Aceh on Wednesday, said the huntara are spread across several locations in Meureudu Sub-district and Meurah Dua Sub-district, Pidie Jaya Regency. Okta Handipa mentioned that the total number of huntara built in Pidie Jaya Regency reaches 1,347 units. Of these 1,347 huntara units, 866 have been completed, while 481 others are still under construction. “Of the 866 completed huntara units, 543 have been occupied and 323 are not yet inhabited. The uninhabited ones will soon be occupied by affected disaster victim families,” he said. According to him, the construction progress of the huntara varies between 80 and 90 per cent. Currently, the completion of huntara construction is being accelerated and targeted to finish before Eid. “Challenges in completing the huntara include the unavailability of clean water and electricity. The construction implementers are continuously striving to overcome these obstacles so that the huntara can be occupied as soon as possible,” he said. Okta Handipa mentioned that the largest number of huntara built is in Gampong Manyang Lancok, Meureudu Sub-district, with 126 units. These huntara were built by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). The construction progress is 100 per cent complete. Of the 126 units, 52 have been occupied by affected disaster families. Then, huntara built by Danantara, located near the PMI Building, office complex, Meureudu Sub-district, number 120 units. The construction progress is 100 per cent complete and all units have been occupied. “Huntara construction locations in Pidie Jaya Regency are spread across 25 points. The huntara were built by BNPB at 12 points, Danantara at eight points, the Ministry of Public Works and Dompet Dhuafa each at two points, and the Kita Bisa humanitarian institution at one point,” said Okta Handipa.
