governments. None has been successful in enforcing the law.
Purachai Piumsombun is not the first interior minister to
promise to stamp out social ills, including illicit drugs,
prostitution and casual sex among teenagers. Like his
predecessors, he identifies night time entertainment places as
dens of iniquity. They all believed that people's indulgence in
such vices should be regulated and that enforcement of the law
forbidding people under the age of 20 from entering nightclubs
can always be tightened.
