BP3MI: Indonesian Murder Victim in Malaysia Was Undocumented Worker

Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Agency (BP3MI) in Aceh Province has stated that an Indonesian citizen from Aceh, Putri Hensy Aprilda (22), who was allegedly murdered in Malaysia, was not officially registered as a migrant worker from Indonesia. “It is confirmed that the deceased worked in Malaysia through unofficial or non-procedural channels,” said Head of BP3MI Aceh Siti Rolijah when contacted in Banda Aceh on Tuesday. A migrant worker from Alur Manis village, Aceh Tamiang Regency, named Putri Hensy Aprilda (22), along with her infant child, were reported dead in early June 2026, suspected victims of murder in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. Siti said the confirmation that the deceased worked non-procedurally in Malaysia came after a data check on the Indonesian worker system. “BP3MI Aceh checked the deceased’s data in the Computerised System for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers application and her data was not found,” she said. Siti added that BP3MI Aceh, through its P4MI Aceh Tamiang team together with the Aceh Tamiang Manpower and Transmigration Office, had also visited the victim’s family. Based on the information obtained, the family admitted they had not met or been in contact with the deceased for almost two years. In fact, all this time the family believed the victim worked in Aceh. “The family had known that the deceased worked in Langsa (Aceh),” she said. However, the cause of the violence against the victim is still under investigation by the Malaysian police and cannot be confirmed until an official notification is received from the Indonesian representative. “The case is currently being handled by the Malaysian Police and the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur,” she said. Siti added that the victim’s body is scheduled to be repatriated to Aceh on Wednesday (24/6). The entire process is being assisted by the Indonesian representative and the Acehnese community in Malaysia. “Preparations for the repatriation of the body to the homeland are being assisted by the Indonesian representative and the Acehnese community in Malaysia. God willing, it is scheduled for Wednesday, 24 June 2026,” said Siti Rolijah.
