BP Taskin Aims to Reduce Poverty to 5 Per Cent by 2029
BP Taskin urges regional governments to promptly update the National Single Data on Social and Economic Data (DTSEN). The move is seen as crucial to ensure poverty alleviation programmes are targeted and integrated between the centre and regions.
The push was conveyed at the Socialisation of the Master Plan for Accelerating Poverty Alleviation (RINDUK) and Regional Innovations in Accelerating Poverty Alleviation in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 21 May. The event was attended by ministries and agencies, 38 provincial governments, and 514 regencies and cities, in person and online.
Deputy Head of BP Taskin, Iwan Sumule, said RINDUK provides a common footing in accelerating national poverty alleviation. He said all government programmes must move in one policy direction.
‘Accelerating poverty reduction requires structured and sustainable collaboration. RINDUK is designed to ensure all policies, programmes, and interventions can move in the same direction,’ Iwan said.
He explained that RINDUK is built on the mandate of Presidential Regulation No. 163 of 2024. The programme forms part of the government’s target to reduce the poverty rate to 4.5 to 5 per cent by 2029. According to Sumule, RINDUK is built around five main pillars: National Targeting System, Social Protection, Poverty Graduation, Economic Empowerment, and One Poverty Alleviation Fund. The pillars are aimed at reducing household expenditure burdens while increasing the incomes of the poor.
‘If DTSEN data is not updated properly, poverty alleviation interventions will not be well targeted.’
He emphasised that DTSEN forms the main foundation for the implementation of the national poverty alleviation programme. Therefore, the government is promoting continuous data updating through field verification and data synchronisation between the centre and the regions.
BP Taskin also advocates strengthening SITASKIN, or the Synergy of Accelerating Poverty Alleviation. The programme is projected to become a collaborative ecosystem linking ministry programmes and local governments in accelerating national poverty alleviation. (E-4)
