JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Commissioner of the Badan Pengelola Tabungan Perumahan Rakyat (BP Tapera) Heru Pudyo Nugroho stated that the stock of FLPP subsidised housing specifically for employees of the Dapur Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) or Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) depends on the level of interest.

“Like others, it depends on the interest from SPPG employees. There is no special allocation like that,” said Heru on Monday (20/4/2026).

For context, the special stock of FLPP subsidised housing for SPPG employees has been widely discussed on social media.

The information was initially expressed by the Rector of the National Defence University, Jonni Mahroza, after meeting with the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait on Tuesday (22/04/2025).

“We also received an allocation for Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia (SPPI) of 1,000 housing units, specifically for SPPI who will lead SPPG across Indonesia. The locations will be divided into four zones as regulated by BP Tapera,” said Jonni Mahroza.

The news immediately sparked pros and cons among netizens. Even experts assess that the policy is only sporadic.

Housing Sector Observer Jehansyah Siregar said the government often gets trapped in home ownership schemes without mature area planning.

He cited similar previous policies, such as providing subsidised mortgages to barbers after a visit by the 7th President of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to the area.

“The government always gets trapped with home or property ownership schemes,” said Jehansyah to Kompas.com on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

He added that without systematic settlement area development planning, the programme’s achievements are limited and far from national targets.

“As a result, the numbers are only a few hundred or thousand, whereas the President’s target (Prabowo Subianto) is 3 million homes per year,” he said.

Jehansyah also assessed that the mortgage scheme is not always relevant to meet the housing needs of SPPG employees. He highlighted the non-permanent nature of the work and the possibility of employees moving work locations.

According to him, the home ownership approach could potentially be ineffective if not adjusted to the work patterns and mobility of employees.

This model is seen as more flexible and can support the work ecosystem, including for suppliers in the MBG programme.

“Integrated rental housing with SPPG kitchens could be a concept for the employees and MBG kitchen suppliers,” he stated.
