BP Diesel Fuel Price Drops by Rp 1,000, Full Tank Cost for Pajero Sport Now This Much

JAKARTA - The reduction in the price of BP Ultimate Diesel starting 8 May 2026 brings welcome relief to owners of diesel SUVs, including users of the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The diesel fuel produced by BP is now marketed at Rp 29,890 per litre, down Rp 1,000 from the previous Rp 30,890 per litre.

This situation directly impacts the daily operational costs of diesel-engine vehicles.

In particular, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is known as one of the popular ladder frame SUVs in Indonesia, especially the diesel variants with common rail engines.

The amount is slightly lower compared to before, which could reach around Rp 2.1 million for a full fill-up. This price drop is good news for diesel car users who regularly undertake long-distance journeys.

Besides BP Ultimate Diesel, Pajero Sport users can still choose other non-subsidised diesel fuels that are more affordable, such as Pertamina Dex and Dexlite.

If using Pertamina Dex at Rp 27,900 per litre, the full tank cost for the Pajero Sport is around Rp 1,897,200. Meanwhile, with Dexlite sold at Rp 26,000 per litre, the full tank cost drops to around Rp 1,768,000.

The use of high-quality diesel fuel is considered important to maintain the condition of modern diesel engines, especially for vehicles equipped with common rail and turbocharger technology like the Pajero Sport.

Modern diesel engines are generally more sensitive to sulphur content in the fuel. If the diesel quality is poor, the risk of carbon deposits in the combustion chamber to disruptions in the injection system can increase.
